As usual, The Loud American Roadhouse is kicking off the Stock Show with a Dustin Evans and the Good Times Band concert. A week before you can see him at the stock show, you can see this South Dakota native who has gone on to become a Nashville recording star perform live on Main Street tongiht at 9pm!
But that can’t stop us from sharing the holiday cheer — our ‘hayride’ is still on! Rather than brave the elements outside tonight, we’ll be enjoying hot drinks, holiday treats, and a visit from Santa Claus inside the office. Stop in anytime between 4:30pm — 6:30pm. We look forward to seeing you!
It’s the pumpkin time of year again. From seasonal foods to jack-o-lanterns, this particular fruit is everywhere. Do you know pumpkins are grown on every continent, but Antarctica? Do you know that pumpkins were once considered a cure-all for everything from freckles to snakebites? But more importantly, do you know what it takes to create a great jack-o-lantern?
Once cut, a pumpkin has a lifespan of about 4-5 before it begins to rot. That makes today the perfect day to create a jack-o-lantern that still be in its peak for Friday!
A great jack-o-lantern starts with a great pumpkin. Choose a pumpkin with a rind that is firm, uniform in color, and free of blemishes like cuts and bruises. Also remember to give your pumpkin a little knock. You are hoping to hear a thump, telling you your pumpkin isn’t rotted on the inside.
Once you have the perfect pumpkin, sketch your design in washable marker (giving you the option of a re-do!), cut an opening around the stem, scoop out the seeds, and carve your masterpiece!
